This month, the Moon team transforms the functional concrete interior of the bungalows with precise installation of ceramic and limestone tile. These natural elements, mixed with the mahogany wood, add life and positive energy to each bungalow at Moon. We continue in our mission to ensure that the experience inside Moon reflects the calm and beauty of the outer surroundings here in Santo Antão.

The clay of the ceramic tile at Moon was formed from the weathering and erosion of rocks over extended periods. Rich with minerals and also an ode to the rocky island and color of the original moon, the light gray tiles were selected for the Moon flooring to ground the space. Selected from India, especially for the beauty and healing energy, the limestone wall and shower tile brings in a dynamic water element into each bathroom at Moon. Since limestone forms in layers, in marine environments like rivers and oceans, extra care is needed to cut each tile. With calm focus, the Moon team then places and adheres one tile at a time to create a beautiful interior in each bungalow.

While it’s true that the outer reflects the inner, at Moon we also believe that the inner reflects the outer. By creating a serene living space inside each bungalow and around Moon, our intention is to promote wellness as we believe that beautiful places calm the nervous system.
