December Iron
Highlights
The newest addition at Moon is a custom staircase, designed by Moon’s founder, leading to the tallest bungalow. After considering many materials for the stairs, iron was chosen for its streamlined aesthetic and strength. Though iron is one of the strongest metals, it’s ironic that its usefulness is based on its malleability—the quality of something that can be shaped into something else without breaking. This flexibility allows a piece of iron to be shaped and welded into a means for climbing.
Especially this month, the Moon team has been challenged to adapt to a new timeline. Though we had hoped to open by the end of this year, the reality of sourcing unique, quality materials and equipment on a remote island is that it takes time. Added to that, building everything by hand extends the process. However, though changes have been necessary, we remain encouraged because we continue to climb and our spirits will not be broken. As we move toward the close of this year, we calmly reflect on the tremendous lessons and growth of the year with gratitude.
We hope that you may also find time this season to reflect with gratitude on all that was gained this year, even when it may initially seem like a loss. We are thankful to be connected to you and we wish you an abundance of peace and joy. We look forward to welcoming you to Moon in 2025!
